This Friday, August 14, is Social Security’s 85th birthday. Social Security
Works, a nonprofit organization that promotes the expansion of Social Security, is sponsoring a “tweetstorm” to celebrate the anniversity. They
encourage everyone to join the fun by using #SocSec85 and #ExpandSocialSecurity.
You can find a full media kit here. It
includes data sheets, sample text for posts, and graphics that you can use in your own posts. Social Security Works will be tweeting most heavily between 10-11am
ET, but plan to post to Twitter and Facebook throughout the day.
“Social Security Works 50 State Reports” and “Social Security Works for the United States“ have statistics about Social Security that
you can use to customize your own posts. Or you can use some of the sample posts like these:
